Fines and Safety

Drivers now get fined for saying something detrimental about the sport in the heat of the moment. Maybe they should have the PR person answer any tricky questions that get asked, or just say no comment.
Drivers now get fined for a conversation on twitter. Drivers have also made comments over the team radio. Will comments on there also be subject to a fine? If a driver is having a conversation with some people or friends away from the track or during the week and makes detrimental comments, and someone in NASCAR happens to personally overhear it, will that also be subject to a fine? And will these fines also be applied to anyone that works in NASCAR, or any of the media members?
I wonder how this will address or solve the problem or "preception" of lack of integrity, throwing cautions in certain situations, cautions for certain drivers, and cautions for the benifit of the "show". I guess they better get working on a new section for the rule book, Verbage Detrimental to the Sport.

Elliot Sadler's wreck made Kasey Kahne's tree trimming wreck seem not so bad after all. Alot of people seem to put the car as the biggest safety item that saved him from serious injury or even death. I believe it was the sum of every thing involoved, car, seat, seat belts, helmet, and the HANS device. However in that wreck I'm going to put the HANS device at the top of the list. I also wonder how many people said H--- S--- when they saw it. I know I did.

I am also very curious to see how Pocono solves the infeild safety concearns around the track.

racin' or wreckin'

The last restart in the Nationwide race from Gateway was good racing, right up till Edwards dumps Keselowski. It could have been anybody lined up 1st and 2nd with two laps to go and the possibilty of them getting together is usually pretty good. Then make it Keselowski and Edwards, and that makes the possibility even higher. I wondered if Edwards stays in the gas on the outside if he doesn't win any way. One of the top two dirtiest moves in racing is to turn a car from the right rear corner. Do it while the field is strung out is bad, do it in front of the whole field is even worse. The other one is to be inside of a car in the corner and then turn right and drive them into the wall.
It makes me wonder what price NASCAR is willing to let drivers and owners pay for them, just to put butts in the seats and ratings for the tv.

Apparently Marcus Smith thought that was a great ending to a race. http://espn.go.com/racing/blog/_/name/newton_david/id/5391961/have-boys-no-not-way
Maybe Mr Smith should strap in a racecar and do a full speed re-enactment of the wreck. As soon as he gets out of the car someone can stick a camera and mic in his face, and ask him, How was that?
